Preparation
In a saucepan just large enough to comfortably hold the pears, combine the pears, wine, sugar and cinnamon stick.
Bring to a boil over high heat.
Reduce the heat to low, and cook for about 30 minutes or until the pears are tender when pricked with a fork.
Lift out the pears carefully and set them aside to cool.
Remove and discard the cinnamon stick.
Add the preserves to the pan, raise the heat and boil for 5 minutes, stirring constantly, until the preserves melt and the sauce is smooth.
Serve two pears halves on each plate and spoon the sauce over them.
