• 100 g butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 whole egg
  • Zest of 1/2 a lemon
  • 150 g cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 250 g dulce de leche
  • 3 tbsp grated coconut


First, beat the butter with sugar until creamy. Add the yolk and egg, beating well, then add the grated lemon peel.

Sieve together cornstarch, flour and baking powder and add to the previous preparation.

Knead lightly on a floured board until dough is smooth, and let it rest 15 minutes. Stretch until it is 1/2 cm thick and cut with a round cookie cutter. Place on a greased baking tray and bake in moderate oven for 15 minutes without letting it take on color.

Once cold bind the two halves with caramel and roll the edges in grated coconut.

Using a mold of approximately 5 cm in diameter, you will obtain approximately 14 alfajores.
