Lindell Smith`s passion for food and hospitality started at a young age due to his father being a renowned chef and restauranteur. He grew up surrounded by the restaurant industry and has worked in every position in his family`s business. Lindell Smith graduated from The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park in 2008. After graduation he spent a year working at Jose Andre`s restaurant Zaytinya in Washington DC. He also worked at Palma restaurant in New York City for several years during his studies at the Culinary Institute of America. After his time stateside Lindell moved back to Puerto Rico to work at Perla. He is commited to providing his guests with an incredible dining experience in both service and through his food. Structure and History. Perla is located within the famous and historical conch shell of La Concha Hotel. Famous Italian architect Mario Salvadori designed the shell in 1958. The shell sits on an infinity pool elevated above the beach. Guests are treated to a breathtaking panoramic view of the beautiful ocean and beach. The shell has been the site for many special occasions and has been visited by many celebrities and dignitaries including John F. Kennedy when he visited the island during his presidency. Perla offers its guest with incredible ambiance. The dining room is illuminated by eight murano glass "artichoke" lamps. The pool surrounding the restaurant creates a reflection of the water dancing on the ceiling. The dining experience in Perla is one of a kind.
