CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla essence
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • Salt

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 375F (190 C).

In a large bowl, mix butter, shortening, sugar, eggs, and vanilla essence. Stir until a smooth paste is obtained.

Incorporate flour, baking soda, chocolate chips, and 3 dashes of salt.

Grease a wide cookie sheet. Spoon out small balls of dough and arrange onto cookie sheet, leaving 1/2 inch (2-3 cm) between dough balls.

Bake for 10 minutes, or until the centers of the cookies are set and the edges are a golden brown.

Remove from oven and allow to cool. Use a thin spatula to remove cookies from baking sheet.

Makes 50 to 60 cookies.
